An all-consuming passion that detracts us from regular life, while giving us a new one.
As the world sleeps in comfort, a dark figure keeps on persisting,

through the cold winter night on the seldom treaded waters of whimsical lake.

No storm too strong and no wave too powerful to keep him from resisting,

sails the silhouetted stranger on his elfin boat of fate.

The turbulent waves have made him weak, have made him suffer,

only a child yesterday, he's come so far from the safe haven he called "home"

With each passing day, he vows to make himself tougher,

the obstinate fool and his love of adventure, his need to roam.

He could turn back this moment, no one would blame him

but the calmer shores do not appeal to a spirit crying for release.

So the naïve fool keeps on weathering the storm without even knowing how to swim,

for only past those dark clouds ahead he knows will he find his true peace.

The winds let no mistakes go unpunished, show no forgiveness or impunity,

as he risks losing his all on this treacherous path unforgiving.

Undaunted he rows for the promised land, for the gateway to divinity,

for he knows a deep secret: a life without love is not worth living.

It might take a lifetime for this gamble to pay off, and even then it might not so,

but he'd given up so much, would a bit more come amiss on the road he'd taken to his destiny?

Unbeknownst to the sailor, was a small leakage that would soon make his craft overflow,

Will this consummate his ultimate act of sacrifice or will his faith be strong enough to see him through this inevitability?

On the seldom treaded waters of whimsical lake,

sails the silhouetted stranger on his elfin boat of fate.
