A poem about how I miss not having a sibling and what I would have done if i had a brother
There would have been two bottles of milk
two cots, one pink, one blue,
there would have been twin seats on the carriage
two tickets to the zoo

I would have held your nervous hand
taken you to class
on your very first day
I would have been your first best friend
with me you’d laugh and play

From who gets the glitter crayons
to who loves mom more
we would have wrangled, fought, and pushed each other
till our bodies grew sore

Oh what monster you would have been
in my teenage years
breaking my iPod spoiling my homework
and driving me to tears

But I know you’d be there my baby brother
whenever I’d be sad
because you’d be my partner in crime
when we teamed up against Mom and Dad

Then after decades we would have met
how enjoyable it would have been
you’d be the person I’d shared my childhood with
those memories alive, I would have seen

I wanted to see you grow in mom’s womb
take your first stride
when you got the first gold medal
I wanted to pat you with pride

All I wanted to hear was
you calling out for me
but 1 old cot and 1 bottle of milk
is all I can see

They say that loneliness is a bliss
well what they say is untrue
As I want a complete family
Mom, Dad, me and you
