description of depression
Depression

is a pool of misery.

stagnant.

still.

but not peaceful.

never peaceful.

or calm.

no.

never calm.

Depression

is a hungry poison

coursing through veins

like blood.

red like the poison apples

in fairytales

and like the crimson liquid

that pools on the blade

or over an angry cut.

Depression

is a dark abyss

of shadows.

the pit of sadness

where only the most desperate

of helping hands

can reach

to the bottom

Depression

is a weed

that destroys.

branching out

maliciously

to consume

your entire being

and force its way

into your mind.

Depression

is a disease

that is not contagious

though

it cannot be healed by anything

in the doctor's office

though pills are prescribed.

all that can fix it

are people who care.

Depression

is a waterfall

of tears.

crashing with pain.

it feels like

you're drowning

in fears and hopelessness

as you are pounded

by the water.

Depression

is a wound.

for some it is a skinned knee.

painful.

but quicker to mend.

but for others it is a deep cut

that doesn't heal because

it has not been noticed

and bandaged by others.
