My battle with depression never truly ends...
Depression

24 lines

There is no way to stop it once it begins,
playing a game where nobody wins.
A carousel ride that spins and it spins,
taking you back to the start.

You’re dizzy and sick from taking this ride,
and wonder why no one was right by your side.
Yet, you can still feel it—an impossible pride,
coming from somewhere within.

There’s no sense in hoping once it takes hold,
all you can do is watch it unfold.
Keep your mouth shut, and do what you’re told,
or someone may notice the truth.

You lie to yourself and those who surround you,
wishing this ailment never had found you.
But, oh, how it took you under and drowned you,
leaving you gasping for air.

Now you’re exposed, there’s nowhere to run.
Fleeing through darkness, it’s all come undone.
On the brink of disaster, this thing thinks it’s won,
yet, I still have something to say:

When you feel there’s no way you’ll ever be free,
I wish you’d sing this song along with me,
and hear in its bittersweet melody,
That everything, one day, will be fine…
