Mini rant with self about becoming a writer. After all.
How do you become a "writer"? How cool would it be to just "be" a writer, and not have to actually write anything? That's my lazy dream.

Writing is hard work. Besides, there is so much conflicting information out there about how to write. It's like researching nutrition:  "Eat a well balanced diet, including grains, etc." "No! Do not eat grains. They can cause bloating!";  "Have 2-3 servings of dairy per day." "NO! Humans lose their ability to digest dairy fully. You are asking for trouble if you keep trying to ingest it!"
Ditto writing advice: "Write what you know." "Poppycock, you need to stretch your horizons, not confine yourself to your current orbit." Etc. Etc.

I don't know about you, but some writing exercises hold about the same level of excitement for me as diagraming a sentence. Seriously? Write a 300-word description of my bedroom?

I need to move past this. I know it.

I happen to be a pretty good pianist. I even hold a degree in music from a well known university. I didn't become accomplished because I "wished" it. I did not defiantly hold to my dream to "be" a pianist without practicing. A lot. So I'm going to try applying the same mentality to my writing. Quit digging in my heels and stomping my feet.

To become a writer, I guess I really will need to WRITE!
