Poem depicting an online relationship that took a turn for the worse

No matter how many she knew
They were all the same,
They all hailed from a small town and dressed just like you
For her they were much too tame
Everyday she put on a show
She drowned in sequins and glitter
All she wanted was for someone to know
How she felt inside, to understand her
One day she got online and lost herself
He was tall, dark, and handsome
He was from a place you can only find on a bookshelf
She had no idea he was going to steal her for a measly ransom
Falling in love, faster and farther each day,
She didn't care about who was really on the other side of the screen
it was the words and promises he would say
All  that mattered was that she was finally seen
The time finally came and the truth was revealed
Astonishingly, she welcomed him
Even when her fate was sealed
She looked into his eyes and her smile was grim
When no one payed the dead woman's dowry
All she could say was "Lie to me one more time,"
He shook his head, and was almost sorry.
