dealing with insomnia
The shimmer of moonlight
Illuminates my face
Amidst this silent night,
My mind starts to race.

Lingering thoughts
Form cobwebs in my mind.
The answers that I sought
Are impossible to find.

I slowly close my eyes
As thoughts start to swarm.
The peaceful starry skies
Make the icy cold turn warm.

Sleep is on the verge,
Relaxation seeping through.
Yet questions still emerge
From the night's darkened hue.

I gaze down at the time
As it slowly passes by,
Waiting for the chime
That will arise him from my side.

I think how good it'd feel
To be far away in dreams.
The silence is real,
But my inner voice screams.

Still hours to go till day light
And I will not sleep till then,
So I'll bask here in the moonlight
Till the sun starts seeping in.
