A weird poem about a journey devoid of hope, faith, or compassion in any form.

Back there
Somewhere
Another place
A different time
An ageless face
I lost it all
No choice was mine
Nor was it meant
Fate was just the tip
These hands, my own
Are quite clean
Another’s are stained
Someone that I once loved
Someone that I once needed
Not anymore
Such a perilous place to be
Needing no one most of all
Long since dead are any of them
That could ever make a difference
So even if I wished to change
Even if I set down my load
It is and will always be too late
I have built up every possible
Form of a defense mechanism
There will be no getting in
And certainly no escaping
I have indeed come too far
I have much further to go
A seemingly endless journey
That I alone must take
Love grows quite cold in my chest
Hope has long since died in my arms
I am incapable of both charades
I will never know one or the other
I will only further grow to know myself
At a level beyond all that is sufficient
Being so aware comes at a terrible price
An unrelenting wager assigned value
Even though one of the two parties involved
Could never even begin to pay
God has intended everything
His plan, cruel perfection
His might, his will, his desire
None which can be ignored
The deity of my choice has been spent
Faith holds no further flame to him or I
What is required is beyond
Any words in any book
I have indeed come too far
And everyone involved knows it
I cannot change myself or my direction
I can only further fight in every battle
Knowing all along that I will lose the war
Knowing all along that I myself
Have come too far…
