Dark Shadows Cover Our Land

Where our dreams end,
the black and white facts begin.
The clown with the silly face changes
tears of reality streak his painted on grin.

A nation of self absorbed marionettes
we have lost our way in tangled strings.
Stepping on terrorist cracks,
walk under ladders of danger, entice poltical fat cats.

We sip morning coffee over cyber sexual affairs,
ignoring dark shadows behind media fairs.
Will the world's children suffer due to our vanity?
A river of innocent blood flows we refuse to see.

These questions I own; perhaps so do you.
Lost summer days move into a empty fall season.
We like to think we show our children empathy.
Do we prepare for war with hollow "exceptional" reasons?
