the morning of a deer hunt.
The Morning Hunt

As I sit in the stand
with a dark morning sky
I look at my watch
it is now shooting time

It is still a bit dark
for I cannot see
but with a rustle in the leaves
I know they’re near me

A few minutes past
the sky now bright
I looked down under
to receive a good fright

Here were two bucks
coming as planned
the gun was loaded
ready at hand

They were here now
I was ready to go
I raised my gun
and let em both know
