I have a recurring dream. I’m surrounded by a storm...
I have a recurring dream.
I’m surrounded by a storm.
An eerie sky surfaces on a day that’s beautiful and warm.
I’m always in the midst of this;
when the branches begin to sway,
just like I’m always feeling confident and then life gets in the way.

The heavens turn an unsettling green.
A funnel touches down.
The tornado whirls, a mystifying spin as it moves along the ground.
I’m running, seeking shelter,
and fierce winds continue to blow.
Seems like I’m close to safety,
but I find there’s nowhere to go.

This dream occurs too often to count,
my subconscious haunts my existence.
but after all the destruction,
there’s a chance to rebuild if I’m persistent.
So, I’ll try my best to reconstruct with the rest,
refusing to let fear keep me enslaved.
But I know in due time,

the storm will return
destroying the road to prosperity I’ve repaved.
