this is a poem describing young love and losing each other, only to find each other again.
This is a work in progress...

They were friends since middle school,
hung out with the same crowd.
She noticed a glint in his eye,
whenever she was around. He
noticed sparks from her too,
so he soon asked her out.

Friends transformed to lovers,
through high school and beyond.
They were inseparable, unbreakable,
a true love, each one thought;
but she yearned for commitment,
an eternal marital bond.

He was a product of divorce,
petrified of what comes next.
A promise ring was the closest thing
he had faith in love to give.

Not long after, the promised,
regressed to mere friends. Their life
together was deteriorating, suffocating.
Then one day they were nothing at all.
Each of them married, their
paths no longer crossed.
Until her dad passed away,
and he gave her a call.

From that day forward,
they vowed to stay friends,
a commitment that both
were ready to give.

They still stay in touch,
a void in each filled.
A friendship remembered,
a bond this day still.
