A strange poem that came to me after a question asked of me from another writer.

If you have the time
I have a dime
Loose change
A coin
A smaller part
Of something else
All alone
It is of course
An item of value
Quite limited
Ok, dammit, I’ll say it
It has no real value at all
More of an annoyance
Something to be carried
But in truth, not really spent
Because let’s face it
Ten cents won’t buy shit
Money
More problems
Less obstacles
Wicked and divine
The true God of man
Cash that is
Smallest parts
Stacked
Loose change
A human tribute
To a pagan God
We’d buy the world
Just to burn it down
We, me, you, and us
Would sell it
Right from under
Everyone else’s feet
I’ll get mine
Is printed
On our foreheads
Indelible ink
What a bitch
Scrub as much as you’d like
The shadow of those letters
And thus your past
Will for a while last
These and all of those
Are of course just words
Phonetic absurdity
Slaved over and toiled with
Nonsensical nonsense
To the enth degree
For me, a man, made poet
The end is never where it’s at
The journey is the shaft
And the pointy conclusion
Is the most dangerous part
Wicked and divine
Money
Hundred dollars bills y’all
God may have created us
But it was humankind
That created the wealth
That owns us
And thus destroys us
We will never stop
Until we get ours
Such a blanket statement
Applies to everyone alive
Sure some may be willing to do
As little as possible for cash
But, there are some
Others that would do
Damn near anything for it
Wicked and divine
If you have the time
I have a dime
Loose change
A coin
A smaller part
Of something else
Something all of us want
Something that we
Will do anything to get
It always has to start somewhere
Wicked and divine
From one hand to another
From sum is always part
Of every possible equation…
