Love Poem # 1.
Music

How can I honor my lady today,
without using a standard cliché?

I'm searching my mind for a metaphor,
to find one that no one has used before.

You'd think that I'd find one after some time,
though I still only think of "like fine wine."

I want a metaphor that will leave you pleased,
but all I come up with are similes.

I come back to analyze this now and then,
but I can only dream up Sophia Loren.

For she like you gets better with age,
which takes our fate to a blank white page.

Where you've been, will be, and now are,
like when I learned to play my guitar.

The music gets better each time that I play,
so music, the metaphor, for you, today.
