Too terrifying to remember! (Tied for a Win in the Newbies Only 100 Words Contest)

I opened my eyes to darkness.  My head ached.  Where am I?

I strained to remember what had happened. Images of frightening creatures danced in my head.  The memory strangled my heart with horrific fingers.  The village residents screaming and running for their lives.

Something pushed me from behind, and the ground met my head with a forceful blow. 

A sliver of light entered the room.  Footsteps clicked towards me.

"She's awake."

My heart raced as I looked up at the faceless shadow.

"Feeling better?  Maybe next time you'll listen, young lady."

It all came flooding back.  Trick or Treat.
