She was my life.
(97 words)

Life, by HHL

I thought she was life. For she had been with me since I was born. I could feel her with me thence.

We grew together in this world. And though she accompanied me every waking moment of life, she never got close to me. Never touched me. Never kissed me.

As I aged I knew--she would be there for me all along. Till I grew old, withered and passed on. But only in my final moments, as breath left me, did I realise who she really was. She was not life.

For death, is a lady.
