A poem about how memories affect us.
Funerals and Wedding Bells

        Memories are always near,
Some are bad, and others dear.
        Ever standing to remind,
Some bring tears, and some are kind.

    Some embarrass, others bless,
Often leave us in a mess.
People who we've loved and lost,
Someone who our heart did toss.

Mom and dad, their Christmas gift.
Smiles, and songs, and boats adrift.
    Foreign shores, and waterfalls.
Looney Tunes, and Deck The Halls.

Praying that a check would come.
Kiss the girl who thinks you're dumb.
Batter up, and miss the ball.
      Umpire made that awful call.

Win a trophy, skip a class.
Curse the boy who kicked your ass.
Pin the flower on her chest.
  Doctor say's, "please get undressed."

      Firsts are wonders to recall,
Snowflakes from the sky in Fall.
    Drive your daddy's Oldsmobile,
Noting how that made you feel.

Smoke that stogie on the ground,
Choke so bad you think you drowned.
      Funerals, and wedding bells.
      Party till the morning swells.

Catch a fish, take home to grill.
Fly a kite with brother Phil.
    Teacher takes your toy away.
Hoping the stray cat will stay.

      Memories are who we are,
Form our lives and sometimes scar.
      Memories are here to stay,
Haunting us all through the day.
