A short-ish, simple poem about love
As I sit here, I think of you.
Everything around me is still.
I have tuned out the squeak
of sneakers from the gym.
I have tuned in to the song of my heart.
It plays endlessly, only sweet love for you.

As I sit here, I drink my cappuccino.
I do not taste the sweet pumpkin spice.
I taste the sweetness of your kiss.
I taste the cookies we will make.
I taste the spaghetti we have made,
while dancing around in the kitchen.

As I sit here, I don't only smell cappuccino.
I smell the freshness that is you.
The scent of you is everywhere.
When you're near, it makes my pulse quicken.
You smell amazing, like safety, making
me think of the home I have made in your arms.

As I sit here, I am shivering.
I shiver because it is cold in this room.
I shiver because I think of the way you look at me.
The way you speak my name, makes my heart quake.
The way you say those three little words
that mean so much, I love you, makes me shiver.

As I sit here, I think of you, and I write.
You are truly amazing.
I love you to the moon but not back,
for if I am on the moon with you, why leave?
You are my home, you are my safety.
As I sit here, I fall a little bit more, in love with you.
