Old poem, for review.
In a forest green
within a clearing stands
a small simple cabin
occupied by a man
he, not alone
but with nature it seems
to be at peace at last
no worries
no past....

To wander the fields
and watch the sky
to see the green of
the valley
the splendor of the
eagles in flight

Alone at night
with his thoughts
and dreams
he sleeps in bliss
his fear unseen
no eyes can grasp
no mind conceive
That which claws
at his soul
his heart to redeem

He dreams of things
he will never see
and longs for
love
that will set him free
but the days
turn to years
and his hair turns
gray
and his longing
turns to aching
and he is still
how he stayed

to be alone
is to kill the pain
to confide in ones
thoughts
to marvel at the rain
in solitude he
resides
no human to touch
he won't have to wait
for the pain to subside.

To be wanted
and feel the need
to be needed
and feel the heat
of a love unmentioned
and desire unsaid
his heart pounds faster
to match the aching
in his head

In his dreams
its clear
and her face is
revealed
the dark brown eyes
full of life, He can feel
the soft curve of her chin
to the tip of her nose
and a smile
ohhh the smile
like a light unveiled....
Like the breeze of the field
the haze of a morn
His love for this woman
each night is reborn

and each morning
he steadies himself
for the dream is a
just that
no reason to believe
it will ever be exactly
as he feels, or see's, or dream
so as his coffee grows cold
and his heart grows old
he sits and watches
as the birds fly by
and thinks, Time and tide,
Time and tide

quite comes
and days grow long
and time untold
carries on
and one day he is found
alone in the tomb
crafted by his own hand
and they marvel at his
strength
and how he survived on his own
and no one shed a tear
for a life unfulfilled, a heart unknown
he was laid to rest,
so long ago
and his memories were forgotten
and his empty heart found a home
and they marveled at his strength
and how he survived on his own
