A poem I wrote after moving 900 miles from home.
Wherever my journey might take me
Wherever I happen to roam
A part of me, a piece of my heart
Will be with you at home.
Where weary feet may carry me
Where my path ahead will sprawl
I'll think back with sweet nostalgia
Like I never left at all.
However the world might change me
After all the lessons I'll learn
We'll still fit snug and perfectly
When I happen to return.
If ever you may need me
I hope you'll understand
I'll never be too far away
To lend a helping hand.
You've made me who I am today
You've helped me learn and grow
With a heavy heart I say good-bye
But it's time for me to go.
Though I can't be part of every day
I'll carry you with me always
Wherever I might stray.
