Remembering Christmas when I was young
All the normal feelings of Christmas
flood my waking thoughts.
Snow and trees and presents
that I have gladly bought.

As I walk among the toys
stacked on the toy store shelf,
I see the dolls I longed for
when I was young myself.

And there is the wagon
my brother dreamed about.
I remember when he saw it
all the house could hear him shout.

Daddy longed for a razor,
mama wished for shoes,
grandma said she needed nothing.
I feel that was a rouse.

Nothing really changes
from Christmas of the past,
except I am alone now.
I never thought it wouldn't last.

I use to be the youngest one,
gathered around the tree.
Now I am the oldest,
with grand-kids upon my knee.

We talk about the good ol' days
how it was back then.
But when your grand-kids remember back,
today's their “remember when”
