Amanda fosters goodwill.
Amanda Clear the volunteer,
arriving her first day,
knew in a flash there was no cash,
yet went on anyway.

And furthermore, the Goodwill Store
Amanda chose for “work,”
was down the block so she could walk,
which she thought quite the perk.

She sorted clothes in narrow rows
by color and by size.
Then built a shelf all by herself,
though it took a few tries.

She went in back and with the knack
of one Jack-of-all-Trades,
began revamp of damaged lamp,
and mended the lampshades.

She saw the grins of all walk-ins
and helped them to and fro.
She even fixed the static clicks
on the store radio.

Amanda Clear began to hear
snide comments here and there.
So for good will she took a pill,
then found an easy chair.
