A long overdue thank you. Writer's Cramp.
In Gratitude.

Some words I never thought I'd say
Though I'll save them 'till the end
Anger, Sorrow, Grief, all this
I'll lay down, and never raise again

For lending me your artist's eyes
That half drug me to this place
Where canvas drenched with crimson hues
Evokes the blood of martyred saints

For being the lyrics to my melody
And the “she” in every song
For one short dance at midnight
Though I often steered you wrong

For seeing through my sick, sick love
So like a tree that'd lost its base
Clinging tight to outstretched boughs
With, “God, please don't let me fall.”

For having so much self-respect
So much pureness deep inside
That you knew just when to push away
As my poison trickled out

For living well, with few regrets
When I could only curse your name
Held you up, then held you down
When there was only me to blame

The hardest words I'll ever say
I feel them catching in my throat
Are thank you for those many months
And I'm glad you stepped away

I would have stripped away your goodness
And pulled you down into my hole
Thanks for putting your own self first
Leaving, before I managed to kill your soul.

(I think that sometimes, maybe, its better not to get
Something that you really want
Because, even if you did,
What ever would you do with it?)
