On a post
Out there
Nowhere known
No place home
There is a bird
True darkness prescribed
Via my tortured mind
And the absurdity
Of every single word
Written or believed
On a post
Out there
Nowhere known
No place home
There is a bird
Is he death or is he life
No he is in between
The hell of existing
Seemingly displayed
As a capable creature
That can take flight
That can leave me
And my life behind
But he does not
Fly away that is
No way
No how
He just sits
On a post
Out there
Nowhere known
No place home
Who sent him
Matters least
Why he came
Matters most
He is a representation
And a dire qualification
Of all that I am
And all that I’ve done
If the sun in the sky
Is my ever-widening light
Then he
Is my ever-deepening darkness
He is reality
No matter where I go
Or what I do
He is the only thing
That I can count on
He will not move
He will wait forever
Standing guard
Keeping me attached
To a past that I must own
To a series of events sown
On a post
Out there
Nowhere known
No place home
There is a bird
He will not move
He will not fly away
He will just wait
For as long as this all takes…
