tribute to one of my ponies
He was the most beautiful horse
I had ever seen
I saw him in the evening glow
In a paddock, full of green.

Steel grey against the dusk,
A blaze so white it shimmered
His white back socks when moving
Looked as though they glimmered

A disaster was the first ride,
He bolted, no control of pace
But slipping, he fell over,
And brought an end to our race.

He tried this with me constantly
So one day I made him bolt
We raced through the paddock together
I would not let him stop

From that day on, friends we were
Give and take, was our partnership
Friend for life friend forever.
Partner and friend through our life together
