When you are not the only one who loses
The motherless child sitting there crying and she's feeling so all alone
Waiting for the mother who is not there to finally make it back home
The childless mother she is trying she's trying to understand
Why she did the things she did for none of it was planned
One mistake is all it took now both must pay the price
Knowing she can't make it right for nothing will suffice
The motherless child there in her room watching outside as it rains
While thoughts of the mother she misses so much constantly causes her pain
The childless mother alone in her cell just staring through the bars
And she's hoping that this experience won't leave her child with scars
Praying she'll learn from this time that she must spend away
Because her child needs her now with her she needs to stay
The motherless child there watching the door hoping it will open soon
And hoping this time it will be different and if not then what will she do
The childless mother is on her way home where she knows that her child awaits
Waiting to start over and build a future ready to forgive her mistakes
The motherless child no longer alone her mothers now back by her side
And the childless mother now back at home drying all the tears that she cried
