For some of us its always about the freedom from what we know and what we feel.

I give up on the world
I give up on all that I see
I close my eyes
Asking God
To be free
But there is no reply
I know because
I’m still right here
So very much alive
I’ve suffered so much
Damaged are my guts
Shattered is my heart
Fractured is my mind
At odds with each other
There is always a war
Being fought within each battle
There are always wounds
There are always casualties
I’m always chasing down demons
Leaving me reeling
Wondering is life what I’m feeling
Or is this just a never ending pain
Ripping through my cerebral cortex
Splitting the two sides of my brain
Setting each hemisphere at odds
With itself and all else
Does life, all of this present tense
Only hurt because the receptors
Receive the signals in familiar lengths
Ones that they can predict
Even if the stimulus is switched off
Even if the madness is turned soft
To be free
Simple it may seem
Death it may mean
Losing all that I hold dear
All that I hold dear losing me
A vicious vendetta of thereafter
Played out by both sides
The ones set to peace
And the ones finding no relief
Mourning would be a waste
I would not mourn myself
A celebration should be had
A sense of ease
That I’ve never felt
As simple and as true as that
I give up on the world
I give up on all that I see
I close my eyes
Asking God to be free
But there is no reply
I know because
I’m still right here
So very much alive
His hands are of course unclean
There is always blood on them
Just at this point not mine
I might regret saying most
Of what I have come to say
But there will always be
The smallest part that won’t
To be free
Living towards the dream
Believing mostly in the unseen
Hoping that what I know
And what I have come to feel
Is replaced with what I don’t…
