An unexpected thunderstorm.
An unexpected thunderstorm
affords us all surprise.
Storm flashbulbs set the eve aglow
as thunderclaps arise.

An aggregate of cumulus
provides for stormy night.
It bangs just like a big bass drum
accompanied by light.

All day behind a shining sun
it simply won’t intrude.
But now just like a bolt it comes
to snare the quietude.

Off to the south a flash ignites,
then sure enough a boom.
Another flash lights up the sky
as thunderclaps resume.

Between the walls of east and west
in active atmosphere,
a storm arrives quite suddenly--
acute to eye and ear.

Capricious is a thunderstorm
arriving in mid May.
The sky lit by the lightning bolts
appears in purple-gray.
