A heartfelt story that explains the layout of an event no one wants to talk about.
Her breath escaped her,
Her arms were weak,
Her legs weren't strong,
For her head couldn't speak.

One kick after another,
One punch in the air,
One breath was taken,
For her shape wasn't fair.

The water was deep,
The trash overflowing,
The drop-off too steep,
For the current fast flowing.

I took one step,
I wasn't even thinking,
I dived into the deep end,
For she was sinking.

Grabbing her hand,
Grabbing mine back,
Grabbing my heart,
For she had no lack.

Up she went,
Up to the sky,
Up for the sun,
For she was soon to cry.

On the ground,
On the rocks,
On a stump for more leverage,
For her heart barely knocks.

My mouth to hers,
My hands on her chest,
My strength never failing,
For CPR can never rest.

It shot from her mouth,
It was a fiery liquid,
It was her breath,
For that was all she did.

She jumped up,
She hugged my neck,
She said she loved me,
For I was her Guardian Angel.

This story was dedicated to all the children that die each year because of drowning and other water induced deaths. No one looks at this subject, but I shall today. Rest in peace.
