Writing this for a contest, though it has deeper meaning to me than that.
Here I am, an abandoned book
Left to rot here, no one will care
Pages soaked, decrepit, destroyed
Wait for the end in agony

The wind blows open my cover
Here I am, an abandoned book
Screaming for help but no one hears
Pick me up, and drop me again

No one saves me when my tears seep
Between the letters on this page
Here I am, an abandoned book
Waiting for them to see my worth

The leaves crunch between my pages
Leaving scars no one wants to read
No one looks at me anymore
Here I am, an abandoned book
