Visions while walking
Into the Mist

I think while I am walking.
I think and wish and pray.
Sometimes I talk out loud  or cry
If I'm having a very bad day.

But today is different somehow.
It's misty, foggy, and veiled.
I look into that foggy mist
And see a ship that's sailed.

My life is so very different
Than I thought that it would be.
Instead of a journey through life for two
It's a lonely trip for just me.

Is that you that I see in the mist ahead?
Oh, how I wish that were  true.
I know that it's only a vision
But if it were really true

I'd run so fast toward you
That I'd knock you over in joy
And laugh and cry in unison.
Oh, joy! Oh, joy! Oh, joy!

But up close it's just the foggy mist.
Just a vision I see.
Back to thinking as I walk
And talking only to me.
