Remembering the "father"
Boney knee and freckled arm
He held me tight to his chest
I gently bounced as two boys fought
Over who got to play as Mario next

Bacon grease bubbled and popped
Trickles of rainbows danced
Out of the cast iron skillet
On to the linoleum below

A puddle formed in that crater
Left by the grease
Her tears found refuge there
Away from the words she spoke

The harsh words of hate and disgust
Of loathe and distain for that tramp
And the man that left her broken with three kids
She wished him dead

And part of me wished him so too
