Where does my heart lean..............
MY JOURNEY

O’er mountainous regions
Across fast flowing streams
I have been on a journey
Finding where my heart leans.

There are positives and negatives
Which will help me decide
A country that gives me a feeling
Is where I shall reside.

Does it lean towards Thailand
With its spicy coconut curries
The homeless cats and dogs
With all their diseased worries.

Does it lean towards Malaysia
With its delicious sweet corn
The glaring eyeballs in the capital
Ones I always wanted to scorn.

Does it lean towards Laos
With its water pistol new year
Or seventeen hour bus rides
Where I remained in constant fear.

Does it lean towards Singapore
With its scissor cut grass
An abundance of prostitutes
Only such perfection could mask.

Does it lean towards Indonesia
With its signature island dragon
Spend too much time here
And I will be reaching for a flagon.

Does it lean towards Cambodia
With its fruity tarantula stops
Reefs destroyed by dynamite fishing
The local fishermen shops.

Does it lean towards Myanmar
With its long neck tribe
Its military dictatorship
Doesn’t make it hard to decide.

Does it lean towards India
With its temple of holy rats
Naked children scavenging for bottles
On Delhi’s faecal railway tracks.

Does it lean towards Australia
With its slow paced style
The harsh realities of the outback
Might make me run a mile.

Does it lean towards Colombia
With its religious salt mine
Watch out for those places
Where there is still high crime.

Does it lean towards Peru
With its rainforest delights
Itching to be scratched in places
From all those mosquito bites.

Does it lean towards Ecuador
With its blue footed booby
Come here in the wrong season
The rough seas will make you moody.

Does it lean towards Bolivia
With its flat empire of salt
Take your eye off death road
Your demise will be your fault.

Does it lean towards Argentina
With its open air tangos
The fluctuating economy
Casting an unforgiving shadow.

Does it lean towards Russia
With its teaching opportunity
Due to a language barrier
I lack a sense of community.

Does it lean towards England
With its traditional cups of tea
Unfortunately the bad weather is
There for all to see.

That feeling is elusive
I wonder when it will appear
I hope to find it someday
And all may become clear.
