The Surprise

The Surprise Gift


Oblivious to its spectral taunting,
the colored bow-topped box sat unaware
of how much I found its presence haunting,
raising my desire to rip and tear.
After forever, more than I could bear,
my birthday arrived; I could peek inside
revealing "the thing I had been wanting."
I pulled out a box, something from my bride:
"Inflatable Doll," complete with a guide,
"Never A Headache" it stated with pride.

Theme: Thing in a Box ~ There is a box awaiting you on your birthday. Wrapped beautifully with a large bow on top, the box measures roughly two feet per side. The box has been sitting in the middle of the living room for a week or so and it is driving you crazy! You've picked it up and shook it. It isn't overly heavy and no sounds come forth when shaken. A note attached says : Do not open until your birthday! No peeking! It is something you want but wouldn't ask for. You get to open the box today. What is inside?
