Empty Buckets

Desultory elixir drips
drip by meager drop--
drought draining,
wringing moisture
from soil and root.

Withering time
when weather decrees
dry winds blow,
when grains of sand polish
sun-bleached bone to silk.

Clouds collect
just enough to
spark, to burn
yet disperse naught to drink
nor particulate to perish parch.
