A Little Step towards the Sun

A little step towards the sun, a few strokes of sand in tow,

For the sky above and the lie below,

For we give we grunt we live we grow.

As we live, we stunt, we sin, we sow

Fragments of transit from head to toe.

Worship or whistle no blessings in store

Folklore nothing but pages that weren't tarnished or tore.

Pages filled with passion to pledge

Posterity's panorama for howl and hedge

Fast lanes in slow gear with each turn we take

A jar full of choices we mull over and make.

All seconds we lost at the chime of that clock,

As we pulled down all shutters and we pulled up a sock.

And stood before a void vaster than the start.

Before the head the hope the hate and the heart,

Before death wins the dome, the dame and the dart.

Before the lines thin between the absolute which lay apart.

As senses start to smother and shun,

A little step towards the sun.
