A poem about an idea of life and death and how for people like me there is only between.

What’s this
Damn be it
Shave off the pitch
Stand back
Wait a second
Nothing more
Open that door
Walk right in
Without looking
Without seeing
Fear nothing
I won’t protect you
But I also
Won’t condemn you
We are friends here
Strangers
In the same sinking boat
Down into the depths
Into the darkness
We will both
Descend and transcend
Life and death
The divide
Infinitesimally wide
Fate allows no resistance
An amalgamation
Of God’s true intentions
He does what he does
Without regard for us
He is the king
And we are the fools
Playing right along
Listening to his song
His words of wisdom
Sung in soothing tone
Setting the mood
Allowing us a way out
Forbearance of our sins
When we reach heaven
There be nothing there
Just a blanketed void
Of wonderment and joy
Neither will we see
Or know those once loved
We will be alone in bliss
Wishful will be each kiss
Glorious will be
That which we forget
Shave off the pitch
Take it down a few degrees
To a level of moderated peace
To a parallel angle
Of utter enlightenment
Be wondrous and still
We will never again move
We will be told
Whispered
What exactly
As well as you
I don’t really know
But unlike you
I don’t want to
I’m right here for now
Standing
As I always have
I don’t want passage
I wish not to act
I will just observe
The synchronicity
Between life and death
Between right now
And the moment when…
