A short poem of what I once thought love was. Found on my facebook notes from 2011.
His eyes rest on me,
for a wonder I'm all he sees.
They linger a while,
accompanied by a soft smile.

How, I wonder,
are a thousand, million butterflies aflutter
while I'm riveted in place
mesmerized by what's written all over his face

Waves of emotion
through wordless communication,
a silent, unquenchable fire,
flames only growing higher and higher.

He artlessly renders me speechless.
When he's near like this, the world disappears.
My heart skips a few beats.
I'm melting just because our eyes meet

Embraced in his strong arms,
Those deep brown depths staring down at me charms
Their power can't be denied
...But I don't mind... not at all...

My breath catches
as gentle fingers softly brush
across my cheek-
Oh the exhilarating rush!

That tender smile,
those expressive, unwavering eyes-
they're killing me softly, sweetly
but there's nowhere else I'd rather be
