Let me join you in sleep
Last night you would not let me sleep.

As I screamed my inadequacies in my ear.

You tell me to let it go

I dig my head into the pillow trying to block your sound.

So you threw your arms around me to keep me with you

and you break my heart some more.

Sleep, won’t you let me sleep

Will you leave me alone? The sun rises and I have not slept

But the day brings distraction from you

You leave me alone when I am with the ones you love.

My mind is stuck in the fog that you left me in.

My heart the broken glass in the long carpet.

Darkness visits but sleep stays afar

You show me what I did wrong with my memory

You kiss me and tell me to let it go but I know you must hate me,

You sit beside me and whisper sweet stories of how we used to be

And you break my heart some more

Sleep please let me sleep,

The sun rises and falls and I wait for you to scream at me again.

I feel you and I know I shouldn’t

You scream at me to let it go but you know I won’t

I show you the more I could have done

And you show me the enough I did.

Sleep is what I want.

I want to sleep like you do

I want to sleep with you

You scream at me to let it go

But now I go to join you and let it all go.
