A poem about a girl being beat by her husband.
She weeps.
She never thought he, her one and only true love, would do this to her.
She asks why, why would he ever hit me?
She hides. Awaiting his return.

She weeps.
She tries to keep quiet.
She stops. She hears the car door.
She waits. Thinking, don’t let him find me.

She weeps.
She can tell he’s coming for her.
She pleads. Please don’t do this.
She sings. Sings with the angels. It’s all over now.
