Audio assault while in traffic.
When the terrible music began to play loud,
I beseeched God above to provide me a shroud
of acoustic material lined with soft lead
I could use for defense from the loud that I dread.

(How I longed for the day when respect would ally
and said volume was not played excessively high.
For although music taste is subjective all right,
it is wrong to use it as a weapon to smite.)

Yet the relative silence was more than hair thin
as offending car speakers provided the din
that caused me to press hard with my foot on the brake
and compelled anvil, stirrup and eardrum to ache.

Seems that Heaven was out of the shroud I beseeched
as incredible decibel level was reached.
So I shrugged and in humble acknowledged, I Am
while cacophony reigned in AM traffic jam.

In the bumper-to-bumper my stress could be found
with the ear-piercing shrill acrimonious sound.
It’s the harshness of sound that’s as cruel as can be,
like a chainsaw incising a white willow tree.
