Poem - Broken

It is difficult to feel so broken
Like such a coward trying to act brave
Like a flightless bird trapped inside a pen
Like a hero with no princess to save

To feel so controlled, to feel like you’re trapped
And by one’s own mind, one’s own self, no less
With the fractures in your soul and heart cracked
Feeling like your life has been in distress

Sometimes we need to reach out and seek aid
To not just act bravely, but to be brave
To heal our wings, take flight, and be remade
To be the hero, your own path to pave

If we are broken, we can be repaired
For with others our burdens can be shared
