Love lamented once cast away.
Cowboys Lament

I wish I’d never met her,
That wonderful spring night.
On a dance floor long ago,
I got to hold her tight.

And now I can’t forget her,
She haunts me so it seems.
A specter in the daytime,
She walks through all my dreams.

I see her ahead of me,
When walking in a crowd.
Honey blonde hair shimmering,
Her walk and style so proud.

I hurry to get to her,
Before the corners made.
For once she steps around it,
From my sight she will fade.

I remember I lost her,
No, I cast her away.
We had dreamed of forever,
‘til then I’ll rue that day.

My mind will always see her,
My heart will always know
The error of a young man.
For I still love her so.
