A thought on philosophy
I'LL THINK ABOUT IT
A bit late in life, I know
But I've now got into
This learning lark
You know: English, geography
A bit of history
But not maths
I never could do sums

Philosophy, though, now there is
A subject
You know: Plato, Socrates, Kant
Descartes, Sartre and the rest
Oh, yes, I've read "Sophie's World"!

It fascinates me; all that thinking
And then there's that chap
Well, I can't remember his name
The one that says everything
Is in our mind
And that all around us
Is our own construct

Which is ironic
Like I imagine him
Explaining to me
That I am imagining him
He, of course, being my construct

A bit circular
If you think about it

Anyway, that being the case
I am going to have this construct
Of a gorgeous, tall, shapely blonde
Who is going to do all my bidding
Perfect!

Except my wife says
"In your dreams, buddy boy"
Sadly, I come to the conclusion
That, in truth, I am a mere construct
Of her mind

At least, she has good taste
