A poem about a lover who feels shy to express his feelings
I sat on a pavement waiting for her
But when she appeared I lowered my gaze
I guess she stood staring in great wonder
For my head was bowed like one in a daze

Moments strolled by, and I raised my head
As soon as our eyes met my heart sank
Up till this moment no words had been said
I had nothing to say- my head was blank

Deafened by the silence I tried to speak
But to the roof of my mouth my tongue clove
At last I did speak but my voice was weak
Too weak to express the flames of my love

Moments passed, she was gone; I banged my head
I stamped my feet and bit my finger
I reproached myself for the words unsaid
And wished for yet another chance with her
