A verse about Lorenthîl, one of the Elven kings of old and a legendary hero.
This is the lay of Lorenthîl. It shortly describes the rule and fall of Armathas Lorenthîl, first of the Elvish line of Sun-kings, and slayer of the great arch-enemy Amen'rath. Sun-kings were Elves of great and terrible power - some believed that they were even demigods of some sort. They lived longer and were stronger than other elves, and their magical prowess was enormous. However, since the days of the Elven civil war no Sun-king has ever occupied the Crystal Throne.
This is a poem of grand, olden times, of times of joy, but in the end, also death and destruction.

The sun shone bright in fiery sky
The jewels glittered on mighty crown
Its beauty stayed as time passed by
Worn by the king whom evil cast down

In crystal halls and golden spires
There rung the voice of mighty sires
Gathered all to the high king bright
The lord of lords, a mighty sight

Songs of joy were sung in street
Harps were wrung and flutes were blown
Cobblestones sang under many feet
Dancing in the joy that was sown

The clouds are grey in starless sky
The forests aged as time passed by
A land afire, burning blaze
The archdemon came, a most dreadful face

Lorenthîl stood like silent stone
In his hand his glittering sword
With a single thrust he cut demon-bone
But was brought down by the demon lord

Under faded sky were starlight shines
Now preserved when all declines
There lies our king in blissful sleep
Until he wakes again from slumber deep.
