...and the falling leaves remind me of your love...
The sky, a complete powdery blue
Not a trace of a cloud
And under my shoes the crunch from
Fallen forgotten leaves-

So I stop and take it all in,
While the sun warms my back

The bird to the right of me
Singing some kind of song,
Telling some kind of story-

And I'm certain is about me and you.
I can tell because the corners of my
Lips raise and my eyes well with tears-

So I close my eyes and listen.
Stepping into one of the many
dreams you gifted me to believe in-

And I hear your voice whisper, telling me,
Honey don't cry cause I'm here....just
Remember the touch of my hand against your cheek
Just remember the taste of my kiss against your lips-

But how dare you whisper such lies.
When all these beautiful things bring me back to you.
That space and time when your presence wasn't imagined
But real-

And so, my nights remain lonely-

When all I want is to....
Stare into your placid eyes-

All I want is to....
Stay pressed against your chest-

But you know that Robert Frost saying....
"Nothing gold can stay"-

The sun eventually sets,
The love birds go to rest.
Just like the leaves, everything
Needs to turn their pretty colors-

So instead of my lover,
The moon wipes away my tears
And the evening breeze
Kisses me goodnight.
