Contest entry for The Daily Flash Fiction
It was bitterly cold and the snow continued to fall. The snow was an uninvited guest today as this housewarming party had been planned for two months. It was surprising that anyone showed up at all.

Susan was almost finished cleaning the kitchen when the phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Susan, thank goodness."

Hearing the despair in her voice she asked, Nancy, what's wrong"

"We are stuck in a ditch. The car nosedived into that huge ditch on the right just outside of your subdivision. Will you come and get us, please? The tow trucks are so busy they told me not to expect help for at least four hours."

"Of course I can. I'll be there as quickly as I can. I'll be in Jim's green Jeep."

"Be careful, but please hurry. It's freezing."
