Sometimes we find ourselves the most alone when surrounded by people.
Alone Amongst the Many

The crowds encompass around tangle and choke
Woven and impenetrable the moss in a stagnant pond
Brightly colored but with a musty odor
These intoxicated wanderers leave the breath of their presence
Cling and wrap around in clammy wet

Surrounded by all the voices
So many so loud a momentous cacophony
Single sounds drowned out by the many
The noises and screams rising above and about
Death pressing down with palpable pressure
Fear choking out power and light

Faces behind facades hold no meaning
No warmth or comradeship within those barren shells
Reaching out for anyone while surrounded by everyone
Sinking and drowning crying for St. Peter
To walk upon and above the din
Solitude amongst the many
