A life longed for, but never meant to be

Unfinished Journal

The pages are yellowed,
antiqued with age.
The ink has turned to
an asparagus green.

A life once lived
in sorrow and pain.
Moments of joy, lie
scarcely splattered
like spilled milk.

Dreams from a woman
worn from life's trials.
Grasping at hope,
wishing on shooting stars.

Forlorn for a life
that was never meant to be.
Daydreaming of muscular arms,
holding her tight.
Holding her forever,
holding her for life.

But those strong arms
are wrapped around another.
His tender, soft lips
no longer touch hers.

The years pass by
at a slow and aching pace.
Her affections always
remained forever muzzled.

Their only escape,
penned within an
unfinished journal.
